Thirty years in the business of healthcare has provided me with a wide scope of experiences: from the staff nurse in ICU, to educator of ICU nurses to Case Management from data analyst to Director.  Currently,  I am employed by a health insurance company as an analyst.  It is really very interesting...unlike how it sounds.  I am investigating with the data to identify members that may be in need (clinically) of assistance in managing a chronic illness.  This concept is usually referred to as Disease Management and has been around for a number of years.  The resurgence of Disease Management (DM) is IMO (in my opinion) related to an increased prevalence of chronic diseases such as asthma, heart disease, diabetes.  There is a set of very defined steps and treatments for each condition that has been accepted by the medical community as being standards of care.  The initiation of and adherence to the particular standards for a condition have been researched and documented in medical literature to lead to the most positive and consistent outcome. 

 

Throughout my years of practice, I have watched many people wander aimlessly through the health care system.  Up until now, I have only been able to assist those few people that cross my path in life (physically).  You know those people, some I can remember like yesterday and some I can't remember at all.  I can at least hope that I have positively influenced others.  Now, I know I can reach others...an unlimited number of people...all right out here on the web.  The World Wide Web!  This is my amazing passion!!!!!

 

If everyone who reads this site would tell at least two other people just imagine the potential!  My goal is to provide a resource that will assist anyone who may encounter the healthcare system, whether it is sorting out bills, background on a disease, common treatments, outcomes and so forth.  Of course it won't all happen tonight so we will start smaller and work up to the whole ball of wax.
